SURUME

Surume is dried squid. In Japan they eat this as an apetizer with a cold beer. It's usually shreded in smaller bits. It tastes salty and it's a hard to bite, but in my opinion it tastes good.

SUSHI 24/7

What's the first thing to do when visiting Japan for the first time? Yep... eat sushi of course! And what better place then Tsukiji Fish Market is there? None I guess... So we went to a Sushi restaurant called Sushizanmai. Me and my friends took place at the counter so we could watch the chef prepare our sushi. This was great fun and definitely added up to the ambiance. I ordered a Sushizanmai set menu and was very happy with it. It included a plate of Nigiri sushi (ebi, tamago, unagi, maguro, sake,...) a small salad and a miso soup. And it was very reasonable in price, especially when considering the quality of the fish and the size of the dish. Half way our lunch they started to auction of a tamago (egg omelet) with seaweed (I forgot which seaweed). They only make one batch a day and the first ones to order get a piece. We were quick enough to get some of it. It was delicious and very special.

It's been almost half a year ago I went to Japan for the first time. But I only just finished sorting my pictures out now. I had to go trough about 2000 of them... Yep, Japan was just that inspiring to me.
Going there was a dream come trough for me. And I loved every little bit about it. I want to share all of it with you, so my upcoming posts are going to be dedicated on this trip. We visited Tokyo, Mount Fuji, Nikko, Osaka, Kyoto, Himeiji and Nara.
If you still haven't seen enough pictures on my blog posts, here you can find more.

MY BLOG

This blog is in the first place for myself so I can enjoy en remember all the fun times I had. But it is also for everyone who might be interested in reading about my journey trough life.
You will definitely find a lot of Japan related posts here, since that is my major inspiration source. I love everything Japanese from food to architecture and from nature to art. I try to bring as much Japaneseness in my own life as possible. Other things that keep me alive are photography, make-up artistry, travel, meeting new people and learn about other cultures.
You can see more of my pictures here.

I hope you enjoy reading about my journey.

Love,
